The Goethe Institute wanted to optimise on the popularity of their auditorium by creating a multifunctional event space on their rooftop.
We proposed a space that could be used as a café style area for staff and language students during the day and that could be rearranged at night to create an intimate space for a whole range of events including acoustic concerts, film screenings and book launches.
A series of elements allow this to happen. Large planted screens attached to a fixed pivot, swing around to give shade during the day and a buffer to the city at night. Curved benches snake around the screens and other furniture elements.
